Report: Maine Maritime Academy one of top schools for high earners

Maine Maritime Academy in Castine is one of the top four-year colleges nationwide for preparing students for high-paying jobs, according to a report released Thursday by the Brookings Institution.

In the Washington, D.C.-based think tank’s rankings of 1,666 four-year colleges, Maine Maritime Academy in Castine was one of 15 schools that received a score of 100. Other schools that received 100s included Harvard University and several other maritime colleges.

The Bangor Daily News reported that researchers with the Brookings Institution attempted to determine the value added by the school by isolating variables within a school’s control. The think tank used its method to estimate the direct, long-term contribution of the college on graduates’ future earnings.
