New hires

Landry/French Construction in Scarborough recently hired Jenelle Vance in business development.

R.M. Davis, a wealth management firm in Portland, recently hired Michael Wood as vice president and portfolio manager. Wood has 20 years of leadership experience in the field and has previously served as managing director, head of portfolio management and trust officer.

The board of directors of MaineShare, a nonprofit in Augusta that provides support to organizations doing progressive social justice work in Maine, recently hired Cate Cronin as executive director. In the past 10 years, Cronin has led fundraising campaigns for the Coastal Mountains Land Trust and Maine Farmland Trust, and provided consulting services to many organizations.

Burns & McDonnell, a firm in New Gloucester that provides engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting services, recently hired Richard Brophy as a site safety specialist. Brophy, previously a regional safety manager with NRG Cos., will be working on the Maine Power Reliability Program, the largest construction project in Maine's history.

Cardente Real Estate Brokerage in Portland recently hired Michael Cobb. Cobb, a Maine licensed real estate broker, was the lead broker and vice president of Creative Realty Group Inc. in Gray.

Fluid Imaging Technologies Inc., a particle analysis instrumentation company in Yarmouth, recently contracted with Gary Linz of Mebane, N.C., to represent the firm as technical sales engineer in several mid-Atlantic and Southeast states.

Full Court Press, a printing company in Westbrook, recently hired Harry Tucker as a partner. Tucker was previously with U.S. Cellular.

Sidley, a law firm based in New York, hired three lawyers to staff a Portland office. Herbert Janick III and Corin Swift joined as partners while Eric Seltzer was hired as counsel. Janick will handle securities regulatory and enforcement defense; Swift will oversee investigations and enforcement proceedings; and Seltzer will work in securities enforcement, litigation and compliance.

Sewall, a consulting organization specializing in energy, infrastructure and natural resources in Old Town, recently hired Lee Freeman as vice president, global business development. Freeman was previously with Thomson Reuters Lanworth, a natural resource intelligence firm specializing in agriculture, forestry and renewable energy.


Community Credit Union in Lewiston recently hired Sarah Baker and Stephanie Hill. Baker, who recently interned at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA and Safe Passage/Camino Seguro, was hired as the marketing assistant. Hill was hired as a part-time collections clerk.

Mid Coast Health Services recently hired Amy Etzweiler. Previously, Etzweiler, an internal medicine physician who joins Mid Coast Medical Group-Adult Care Topsham and the Mid Coast Hospital, worked at Lincoln Medical Partners in Damariscotta.

AARP Maine recently announced that Rich Livingston has been hired as state president. Livingston, a retired business consultant, will serve as a leader and spokesperson for volunteers and members in Maine.

Winxnet, an IT service provider in Portland, recently hired Jerry Lawson, Scott Marino and Jaimie Rowe. Lawson will be based in Washington on the SharePoint team; Marino joins in a sales support and technology role in the firm's Boston office; and Rowe was hired as operations manager in Portland.

The Maine Heritage Policy Center recently hired Jonathan Haines as the director of communications. Haines was previously with a small strategic communications and political management consulting firm.

Pica Design + Marketing, a creative services agency in Belfast, recently hired Cara Fox as impact architect. Fox was previously a communications consultant in New Mexico.

The Maine Wabanaki-State Child Welfare Truth and Reconciliation Commission recently hired Heather Martin as executive director.

Yarmouth Boat Yard recently hired Jack Stewart as a sales associate. Stewart, a member of the Board of Harbor Commissioners, Port of Portland, has held various sales and business development positions in his career.

Promotions

Sunday River Resort recently promoted two members of its management team. Jim Largess, previously the vice president of food and beverage, was promoted to vice president of food and beverage/community relations. Aaron Fultz, previously a banquet manager, was moved up to director of food and beverage.

United Way of Greater Portland recently promoted Carrie Zeisse to COO. Zeisse was previously the senior vice president of operations.

KeyBank recently promoted Andrew Cook to assistant vice president and branch manager of the bank's Gorham location. Cook was previously the small business relationship manager in Falmouth.

Preservation Management Inc., a residential property management firm in South Portland, recently promoted of Stephen Robinson and Christine Jenkinson. Robinson, previously the chief facilities and engineering officer, was promoted to president and CEO. Jenkinson, previously the COO, was promoted to senior vice president and COO.

TD Bank recently promoted Peter Boudreau to branch manager in Sanford. Boudreau was previously the assistant manager in Saco.

Marsh, an insurance brokering and risk management firm in Portland, recently promoted Sarah Twomey to senior vice president and client executive. Twomey has more than 19 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Appointments

The Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership recently announced that Steve Levesque, executive director of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, was elected to serve on its board of directors. Levesque provides the board more than 32 years of experience in economic and community development, land use planning and business management services.

Portland Water District board of trustees recently elected Guy Cote president and Robert McSorley vice president. Cote, president of Sevee & Maher Engineers, represents Westbrook on the board while McSorley, a senior project manager at Sebago Technics, represents Scarborough. Additionally, David Kane was re-elected as treasurer and Donna Katsiaficas was re-elected as clerk.

The Mitchell Institute in Portland recently announced new board members: K.C. Jones, managing partner, Verrill Dana; Christopher Pierce; Virginia Swain, professor emeritus, Dartmouth College; Anne Swift-Kayatta; and Daniel Tishman, chairman and CEO, Tishman Construction, New York.

Gov. Paul LePage recently appointed Maine Center for Economic Policy Economist Joel Johnson to the state's Consensus Economic Forecasting Commission. The commission is an independent group of five economists who forecast the Maine economy for the governor, the Legislature and the Revenue Forecasting Committee.

Eastern Maine Development Corp. in Bangor recently announced that Mark Woodward was named vice chair. In addition, the corporation also named six to its board of directors: Gail Kelly, Penobscot Community Health Care; David Milan, city of Bucksport; Chuck Rohn, Darling's Inc.; Micki Sumpter, city of Ellsworth; County Commissioner Eric Ward, representing Piscataquis County; and Elizabeth MacTaggart, representing Sen. Angus King's office.

Kennebec Savings Bank recently announced the election of Mary Denison to the bank's board of trustees. Denison, an attorney at Lake and Denison LLP in Winthrop, was also named a director to the Kennebec Savings Bank Foundation.

The Westbrook Gorham Community Chamber recently elected Andrew Cook as president. Cook is an assistant vice president and branch manager with KeyBank in Gorham.

Women Unlimited, an Augusta organization dedicated to improving the financial independence of Maine's women, minorities and disadvantaged workers, recently elected Jon Doyle as president. Doyle previously served as deputy attorney general of Maine and as legal counsel for the Maine Legislature.

The Maine Municipal Association's executive committee announced that Peter Nielsen was recently sworn in as president and Marston Lovell was appointed vice president. Nielsen is the Oakland town manager and Lovell is the owner and operator of Manufacturers Analytics in Saco.

Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding Center in Windham recently elected Stacy Symbol and Eileen Chretien to its board. Symbol is an assistant vice president of Bank of America and Chretien is the director of medical outreach and volunteers at Make-A-Wish Maine.

Achievements

The Associated General Contractors of America recently awarded CPM Constructors with a 2013 Build America Award for New Municipal & Utility Construction at its 94th annual convention in Palm Springs. The Freeport firm won for its construction of the first phase of Ocean Renewable Power Co.'s Cobscook Bay Tidal Energy Project in Lubec and Eastport, the first commercial, grid-connected tidal energy project to be built in the United States.

The Realtors Land Institute recently announced that Peter and Phil McPhail of United Country – McPhail Realty in Lincoln were awarded the Accredited Land Consultant designation. The McPhails are the first Realtors in Maine to receive the designation, which is presented to members who meet knowledge and experience requirements.

Jonathan Brogan of Norman, Hanson & DeTroy LLC was recently named a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society establishment to reflect the new face of the American bar. Brogan is the chairman of the firm's litigation practice group and has been a trial attorney for more than 20 years.

The Institute for Civic Leadership recently recognized Jeffrey Jordan as distinguished alumnus for 2013. An alumnus of the institute's Epsilon Class, Jordan is deputy director of the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority.

PeoplesChoice Credit Union in Saco recently announced that in Q4 it was the leading credit union in southern Maine and placed in the top 5% of all U.S. credit unions in its class in the 2012 Callahan & Associates measure of Credit Union Member Valuation called the Return of Member Index. The credit union placed 29th nationwide in a class of 702 institutions with assets valued from $100 million to $250 million.

Elm Street Printing & Graphics Inc. in Camden and client, Lulu's Garden LLC in Whitefield, were recently named winners of the 2013 American Package Design Awards by Graphic Design USA. The award was for a new shelf display for Lulu's Garden Maine-made, 100% all natural lip and hand balms entered in the point-of-purchase category.

My International Sister, a nonprofit in Portland, was recently presented the Community Hero award by the Harvard Pilgrim Foundation for its efforts to bring together young women from different cultures and backgrounds.

Haven's Candies in Westbrook recently announced that its Maine sea salt butter toffee won first place in the best new product category at the 2013 New England Made Giftware and Specialty Food Show.

The Maine Tourism Association recently announced that Richard Grotton has been selected as the recipient of its 2013 Hall of Fame Award. Grotton has served as the president and CEO of the Maine Restaurant Association for nearly 20 years.

Farm Credit of Maine, a member-owned and directed cooperative in Auburn providing financial and business services to Maine's farming, fishing and forest products industries, presented its 30th distinguished service award to Stephen Belyea during the Aroostook Member Supper held recently in Presque Isle. Belyea is known for his expertise in the structural and mechanical engineering of state-of-the-art potato storage facilities.

Fontaine Family, a real estate firm in Auburn, recently recognized its sales team for its 2012 results. Clayton Larochelle earned the 2012 top sales leader award; Bill Bergeron and Pat Long-Cressey captured peak performer awards; Deb Morin and Beth Favreau were presented with outstanding achiever awards; and Harriet Cummings, Chad Sylvester and Nick Trider were recognized as multi-million dollar producers.

Maine International Trade Center recently announced the winners of the 2012 International Trade and Investment Awards. The four companies will be recognized during Maine International Trade Day on May 31 at the Marriott at Sable Oaks in South Portland. The winners include: Exporter of the Year, EnviroLogix Inc., Portland; Service Provider of the Year, TD Bank, Portland; Innovator of the Year, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences, East Boothbay; and Foreign Direct Investor of the Year, Emera Inc., Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Pierce Atwood recently announced that the National Law Journal named the firm to its Midsize Hot List for a fourth consecutive year. The list is the journal's annual ranking of the top-20 firms across the country with 51 to 150 lawyers.

The Insurance Professionals of Greater Portland recently named Heather Caston-Talbot of Clark Insurance as its Insurance Professional of the Year. Caston-Talbot has served as president of the professional group that advocates for continuing education in the insurance industry.

College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor was recently listed in the Princeton Review's annual Green College guide. The college is the only Maine school to receive a top grade of 99 and one of only four schools that has achieved that grade each of the four years the guide has been issued.

Gibson LeClair LLC, an accounting firm in Augusta, announced that Kristin Guerette, a staff accountant, and Melissa Perkins, a supervisor, recently passed the CPA exam.

The city of Portland recently announced that Kathy Martin, the children's oral health program coordinator for the city, received the Phebe Conrey King Access to Healthcare Award for her contribution to improving health care access in Maine.

J.S. McCarthy Printers in Augusta won Best in Show for its 2013 self-promotional calendar entry, one Pinnacle and two Awards of Recognition at the Printing Industries of New England's 2013 Industry Awards Gala held recently. Penmor Lithographers in Lewiston was also recognized at the event with an Award of Merit.

First Advisors, a division of The First Bancorp in Bar Harbor, announced that Amanda Horton recently passed the Certified IRA Services Professional examination. The certification is designed to establish a standard of knowledge and competence for operations transaction processing and wealth management professionals specializing in IRA services.
