New hires

Northeast Bank recently hired Scott Smith as mortgage loan officer. Smith, previously with Ascend Home Mortgage Co., will be located in the bank's Poland branch.

Harriman, an architecture and engineering firm in Auburn, recently hired Christopher Carroll and James Beasley as senior architects.

The Portland Museum of Art recently hired Betsy Critchfield as donor-events coordinator. Critchfield was previously the program director for the Bicycle Coalition of Maine.

Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, recently hired Jeremy Fischer as practice group leader for the firm's bankruptcy, restructuring and creditors' rights group. Fischer previously served three terms in the Maine Legislature, where he was house chairman of the Appropriations Committee.

Maine Cancer Foundation in Falmouth recently hired Amy Anderson as director of development. Anderson was most recently a consultant with Ovation Fundraising Counsel LLC.

The University of New England's Department of Marine Sciences and the Marine Science Center in Biddeford recently hired Susan Farady to lead the school's Ocean Studies and Marine Affairs program. Farady was previously the director of the Roger Williams University School of Law's Marine Affairs Institute and the Rhode Island Sea Grant Legal Program.

TD Bank recently hired Sherry Norton as assistant vice president, store manager at 111 Ossipee Trail East in Standish. Norton was previously senior business officer at Gorham Savings Bank in Waterboro and Scarborough.

High Touch Courses in Orono recently hired Chuck Carter as an instructor for its Summer Technology Camp. Carter is a noted video game developer.

Patrons Oxford Insurance Co. in Auburn recently hired Rachael Bannister as a senior underwriter and marketing supervisor in the firm's Personal Lines Department.

Pika Energy in Westbrook recently hired Jeff Pemberton as director of dealer relationships and sales. Most recently, Pemberton was the director of partnerships for Suncap Financial.

Eastern Maine Development Corp. in Bangor recently hired Angela Campbell as a business development specialist for its statewide Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program.

Broadreach Public Relations, a communications firm in Portland, recently hired Nick Cormier as operations coordinator.

Unum, a financial protection benefits company in Portland, recently hired Michael Sullivan as assistant vice president of market development in the company's corporate marketing business area. Sullivan was previously the senior director of marketing at Idexx Laboratories.

Saint Joseph's College in Standish recently hired Joanne Bean as chief advancement officer and vice president.

The Maine Red Claws, a professional basketball team in Portland, recently hired Marc Gosselin as vice president of corporate partnerships. Gosselin was most recently director of development for Central Maine Community College in Auburn.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust recently hired Stephen Gurin Jr. as vice president/team leader of regional business banking. Most recently Gurin was a senior vice president/business banking sales leader for Key Bank in Vermont.

Skelton Taintor & Abbott, a law firm in Auburn, recently hired attorney Benjamin Smith. Smith was previously a staff attorney at the Maine Public Utilities Commission.

Efficiency Maine in Augusta recently hired Laura Martel as research and data analyst. Previously, Martel was with Lockheed Martin in Virginia.

Maine Medical Partners Primary Care in Falmouth recently hired Karin Doehne as part of its Falmouth Internal Medicine practice. Doehne was previously with Southern Maine Medical Center PrimeCare Physicians practice in Old Orchard Beach.

The American Heart Association in Maine recently hired Meredith Jancovic as corporate events director. Jancovic worked in the real estate industry for the past 12 years.

The Maine Republican Party recently hired Lance Henderson as field director and David Sorensen as communications director. Henderson previously worked with presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. Sorensen is taking a leave of absence from his job as communications director in the Maine House Republican Office.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, recently hired Seth Storey as an eMarketing manager. Storey was previously with Burgess Advertising & Marketing in Portland.

Norton Financial Services in Cumberland Foreside recently hired Nathan Waller as securities clerk. Waller was previously with Key Bank.

The YMCA of Southern Maine recently hired Kendray Rodrigues as camp director at its Otter Pond Camp in Standish. Rodrigues was previously with Bonney Staffing Center.

iCST LLC, an IT staffing agency in South Portland, recently hired Kevin Rees as a recruiter.

Putney Inc., a pet pharmaceutical company in Portland, recently hired Sam Spina as director of national channel sales. Spina was previously information management channel manager at Idexx Laboratories.

Promotions

cPort Credit Union in Portland recently promoted Kelly Brogan to branch manager and Jennifer Baickle to assistant branch manager of its Portland Riverside branch. Brogan was previously assistant branch manager and Baickle was a member service representative.

Bar Harbor Savings and Loan recently promoted Michael Bailey to assistant vice president, Nancy Sawyer to vice president and Vicki Vendrell to senior vice president. Bailey was assistant treasurer and assistant clerk, Sawyer was assistant vice president and assistant treasurer and Vendrell was vice president and treasurer.

The Maine Department of Corrections recently promoted Gary LaPlante to director of security. LaPlante was previously the senior deputy.

Broadreach Public Relations, a communications firm in Portland, recently promoted Jillian Kanter to assistant account executive. Kanter was previously an executive assistant.

Unum, a financial protection benefits company in Portland, recently promoted Paul Keenan to assistant vice president of short term disability in the company's U.S. Benefit Operations business area. Keenan was previously the assistant vice president of benefits research information within the company's Benefits Shared Services organization.

Eastern Maine Development Corp. in Bangor recently promoted Chelsea Kondratowicz to program assistant for the Maine Procurement Technical Assistance Center program. Previously, Kondratowicz was an administrative assistant.

TD Bank recently promoted Jennifer Lodewyckx to senior vice president, head of product implementation, risk and analytics in the retail money department in Falmouth and Steven Stout to store manager in Gorham. Lodewyckx most recently served as vice president, technology manager, supporting business banking while Stout was assistant store manager in Windham.

Appointments

The Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership in Augusta recently elected George Gervais and Jason Hallee to its board of directors. Gervais is commissioner of the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development and Hallee is director of operations for Alere Scarborough Inc.

The State Board of Corrections recently elected Joel Merry as its chairperson. Merry is sheriff of Sagadahoc County.

The Bangor SCORE chapter recently elected Matthew Chabe as chairman, Jennifer Morin secretary and Kate Stein treasurer. Chabe is the president of ChapterTwo Marketing & Public Relations, Morin is a senior relationship manager at Bangor Savings Bank and Stein is the owner of The Bottom Line.

The Junior League of Portland recently appointed Liz Smith as president. Smith is the marketing manager at Tranzon LLC.

The 2211 Maine Toastmasters Club, an international communication and leadership development organization located in Unum's HO-3 building, recently announced its officers including: Donelle Caselden, president; Heather Clark, vice president education; Cathy Nelson, vice president membership; Michael Whittaker, vice president public relations; Amanda Hoegen, secretary; Leah Wallof, treasurer; and Stephanie Hansen, sergeant at arms.

Berman & Simmons, a law firm in Lewiston, announced that Michael Bigos and Benjamin Gideon were recently selected for the posts by the Board of Governors of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association. Bigos was named as a revitalization governor for the American Association for Justice Board of Governors while Gideon was named as a state delegate.

Mercy Health System of Maine in Portland announced that Sarah Vasil, a sexual assault forensic examiner in its emergency department, was recently presented with this year's Sexual Assault Forensic Award. The hospital also recently received an “A” ranking by The Leapfrog Group in its spring 2014 assessment of U.S. hospitals when it comes preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents and infections.

Wright-Pierce, an engineering consulting firm in Portland, was recently listed 369th in Engineering News Record 2013 Top 500 design firms in the U.S. The company has been ranked in the Top-500 for five consecutive years.

The Associated General Contractors of Maine recently presented its 2014 Build Maine Awards. Winners included: Sargent Corp., the city of Portland's Baxter Boulevard North Storage Conduit Combined Sewer Overflow Project; E.S. Boulos Co., MaineGeneral Medical Center's Alfond Center for Health; Bancroft Contracting, twin hydroelectric generating facilities on the Stillwater River; Cianbro, Cross Insurance Center; ETTI Inc., the Maine natural gas project in Kennebec Valley; The Penobscot Co., renovation of the Union Hall in Rockport.

CampusTours Inc. in Auburn recently announced that its virtual tour of George Washington University was honored for Best School/University Website in the 18th annual Webby Awards.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington was recently honored with an “A” grade in the spring 2014 update to the Hospital Safety Score, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections.
