New hires

Mission Broadband in Bangor hired Nathanial Gass as a business analyst and network technician and Amy Anderson as director of account management at its sister company, HealthConnect Networks.

The Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockland hired Robert Wolterstorff as executive director. Wolterstorff was previously the Susan E. Lynch executive director and CEO at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Conn.

Thornton Academy in Saco hired Melissa Camire as director of student support. Camire was previously program manager with Child Development Services.

Sevee & Maher Engineers Inc., a civil and environmental engineering consulting firm in Cumberland, hired Travis Carpenter as a senior geotechnical engineer. Carpenter has nearly 30 years of geotechnical engineering experience.

IIS Financial Services, a financial planning firm in South Portland, hired Colby Perigo as a client planning associate and Sam Brodeur as a marketing and administrative assistant.

Kim Vieira

Camden National Bank promoted Kim Vieira from commercial banking market manager to Community Reinvestment Act officer.

Norway Savings Bank promoted Penny Anderson to assistant vice president and market manager for its two branches in Brunswick as well as its Topsham branch and Kaela Delan to Customer Care Center manager assistant vice president. Anderson was previously a personal banker for the midcoast market while Delan was assistant manager of the Customer Care Center.

The city of South Portland promoted Nicholaus Richard to code enforcement division director. Richard was deputy code division director.

TruChoice Federal Credit Union in Buxton promoted Ryan Adams to executive vice president and CFO, Jessica Holland to vice president of member experience, Kaj Johanson to vice president of lending and Lisa Rowley to vice president of planning and project management.

Appointments

The Island Institute in Rockland added John Conley, Des FitzGerald, Nadia Rosenthal and Mike Steinharter to its board of trustees. Conley is a board member and investor at Boston’s Launchpad Venture Group, FitzGerald was previously with the Maine Venture Fund, Rosenthal is the scientific director and Maxine Groffsky endowed chair at Jackson Laboratory and Steinharter is a retired IT industry professional.

The Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth added Scot Draeger, Ingrid Kiefer, Alistair Raymond and Raymond Rice to its board of directors. Draeger is president R.M. Davis Inc., Kiefer is a partner and chief business development officer with SLR Capital Partners, Raymond is vice president of regulatory compliance for Avangrid Inc. and Rice is president of the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Achievements

Pine Tree Legal Assistance awarded Portland attorney Richard O’Meara with its “Pine Tree Legal Assistance Award for Pro Bono Service.” O’Meara is a partner, chair of education law and co-chair of litigation and trial practice groups at Murray Plumb & Murray, a law firm in Portland.

Royce Cross, who joined Cross Insurance in 1970, stepped down as CEO in 2022 and now serves as chairman.

Cross Insurance in Bangor announced that Royce Cross, chairman, was selected as the recipient of the “Insurance Library’s 2024 Insurance Professional of the Year Award.”

Piper Shores, a retirement community in Scarborough, said that Philip Jean, CEO, was awarded the “Chair Award” from the American College of Health Care Administrators’ chair of the board for exceptional leadership and service.

Uprise Partners, a managed IT services firm in Portland, was recognized by MES Computing, a brand of the Channel Company, as one of its “2024 MES Midmarket 100.”

New Dimensions Federal Credit Union in Waterville said it was included on the Forbes list of “America’s Best-In-State Credit Unions 2024.”

Portland Water District announced that S&P Global Ratings raised its bond rating to “AA+” from “AA” with a stable outlook. The upgrade reflects the district’s abundant water supply, low rates and strong financial metrics. In addition, the district said Moody’s assigned it Aa3 water bonds and Aa1 sewer bonds that will result in a savings of $140,000 over 20 years.

Amanda Read, a medical assistant in MaineHealth Pediatrics Farmington (formerly Franklin Health Pediatrics), received the “Francine M. Rideout Service Excellence Award” for exceptional customer service and overall service excellence in their daily interactions with patients, colleagues and the community.
