After more than two years on the market, Jordan's Meats in Portland was sold yesterday to a pair of businessmen, Mark Woglom and Greg Kirsch of New Hampshire.
The pair, who formed Old Port Hospitality in Portland to buy the property, did not disclose the purchase price, but Greg Boulos of CB Richard Ellis/The Boulos Co. said they bought it for less than the asking price of $4.75 million, according to the Portland Press Herald. While Woglom and Kirsch have no firm plans for the 1.74-acre property, they told the paper it has the potential to hold a hotel or office tower. "We have some ideas, but in this economy getting anything done is a challenge, so it may take time," Woglom told the paper.
Woglom and Kirsch are president and vice president of Opeechee Construction in Belmont, N.H., and have constructed a number of buildings in Maine, including AAA's regional headquarters in Portland, Hampton Inns in Augusta, Bath and Ellsworth, and other hotels in the area.
After Jordan's ceased its operations in 2005, The Procaccianti Group of Rhode Island bought the property for $6 million with plans to build a Westin Hotel and 97 luxury condos, but that plan fell through.
