A New Hampshire seafood producer will buy the Trescott Township-based Cobscook Bay Co., a for-profit and nonprofit collaboration that has grown sales of its frozen seafood pies on a national scale.
The Bangor Daily News reported the Durham, N.H.-based Craig’s All Natural reached a sale agreement with Cobscook Bay Co. and its nonprofit partner, the Cobscook Bay Learning Center, for an undisclosed price.
The plant began operation in 2010 under the leadership of co-owners John Phinney and Jeff Johnson. It shares 25% of its profits with its partner, the learning center. Alan Furth, executive director of the center, told the paper the New Hampshire company will continue that profit-sharing relationship.
Craig Rief, president of Craig’s All Natural, said that his company, which distributes nationally to retailers like Whole Foods, will be able to expand the reach of Cobscook Bay Co.’s products. Rief told the paper he plans to keep the business at its current location in Washington County.
