Northern Maine firm named 'National Outstanding Logger'

The Forest Resources Association has named Comstock Woodlands, a logging company based on Golden Road in Comstock Township, its National Outstanding Logger for 2013.

According to the Bangor Daily News, the award was presented to company President Brian Bouchard during the association's annual awards luncheon Friday in Jacksonville, Fla.

The company is located about 30 miles from the Quebec border, employs nearly 40 loggers, all of whom are certified by Maine's Certified Logging Professional Program. It harvests an estimated 500,000 acres of timber, maintains access roads and has an exemplary safety record, the BDN reported.
