N.Y. firm lands Maine’s tourism account

Dilenschneider Group, based in New York, has won the Maine Office of Tourism’s $700,000 public relations contract over the Augusta-based Nancy Marshall Communications, which has held the contract for 20 years.

The Portland Press Herald reported the Dilenschneider Group will collaborate with the Portland-based Burgess Advertising and Marketing during the term of the one-year contract.

In total, the state received seven bids for the contract. Nancy Marshall proposed an entirely in-state operation while the other bidders included partnerships with entities outside the state.

The decision follows on an award from the office last year that gave the state’s advertising and interactive marketing account to a partnership between the Milwaukee-based BVK and Burgess, the paper reported.

Nancy Marshall told the paper that her firm will not have any layoffs as a result of the lost work since it has picked up other accounts.
