Oakfield wind project wins court’s favor

A $360 million wind development under construction in Oakfield fought off a legal challenge this week after a federal judge ruled in its favor on Monday.

The Bangor Daily News reported that U.S. District Judge Jon Levy denied motions by environmental groups and local opponents of the 50-turbine wind farm, who argued that mistakes were made when the Army Corps of Engineers approved a federal permit.

The wind project is being developed by Evergreen Wind Power II LLC and Maine GenLead LLC, which are both subsidiaries of Boston-based First Wind.
