Old Town gets $100,000 grant for energy park

The city of Old Town is receiving nearly $100,000 to help fund its proposed Maine Energy & Enterprise Park.

U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins yesterday announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development program has awarded a $99,500 rural business enterprise grant to the city, according to a press release. The funding will be used to assist with infrastructure construction of the park. The city has already identified two small and emerging businesses that intend to locate in the park, according to the release.

The USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant program provides grants to public agencies, private nonprofit corporations or Native American groups for rural projects that finance and facilitate development of small and emerging rural private business enterprises.
