Onpoint Health Data, a Portland-based health data and analytics organization, has won a contract worth up to $2.6 million to continue providing services for Vermont’s state-led primary care management system.
The Department of Vermont Health Access chose Onpoint in a competitive bidding process for the state-led initiative, called Vermont Blueprint for Health, the organization announced on Wednesday. According to the state, Blueprint is an integrated health care system that aims to improve the overall health of the population and also “improve control over health care costs by promoting health maintenance, prevention and care coordination and management.”
Craig Jones, Blueprint’s executive director, said in a prepared statement that the program is “excited to continue its excellent relationship with Onpoint.” He added, “With the innovative analytic solutions, evaluations and resources we receive from Onpoint, which we then deliver to practices and communities across the state, the Blueprint is facilitating the implementation of a new health services model in Vermont that will effectively achieve its mission.”
The new contract will allow Onpoint to continue managing the state’s all-payer claims database, which provides reporting and analysis that is used to measure Blueprint’s success, according to the organization. Onpoint will use the claims data, combined with clinical data from Vermont’s statewide practice registry and other sources, to generate twice-yearly adult and pediatric reports for individual providers, practices and regions. The data sets are used to help inform decisions for cost-savings, utilization and preventive care measures.
Chad MacLeod, a marketing and communications associate at Onpoint, told Mainebiz in an email that the contract is worth $867,000 per year, for up to three years. After the first year of work is completed, Vermont’s health agency will have the option to renew for two extra years.
