Orvis to expand to Freeport
Orvis, a fly-fishing and home goods specialty retailer, has plans to open an outlet store in Freeport, just blocks away from rival L.L.Bean.
The Portland Press Herald reported the outlet plans to locate at a 10,000-square-foot space that previously housed a Brooks Brothers outlet at 24 Bow. St. An Orvis spokesman told the paper the store will sell discontinued and unsold products from its main retail stores and catalogs at discount.
The expansion is the Manchester, Vt.-based store’s second outlet in Maine. It has another in Kittery.
