Sabattus-based AD Electric Inc. has been fined more than $15,000 for safety violations discovered by federal inspectors following a fire earlier this year at its Monmouth warehouse.
The Kennebec Journal reported that the violations found by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration included failure to provide proper fire extinguishing equipment and respiratory protection and neglecting employee training.
OSHA conducted an investigation at the Monmouth warehouse after a fire in May injured one worker and destroyed reportedly more than $1 million of inventory.
The fire began when a hydraulic line on a bucket truck broke while an employee used the truck to weld the top of a temporary traffic light, according to state fire marshal’s office investigators. Sparks from the welding ignited the hydraulic fluid and spread to the rest of the warehouse.
A worker at the warehouse told the Kennebec Journal at the time of the fire that there were about 700 gallons of oil in the building.
