Oxford Aviation, county revise contentious lease

Oxford County officials and Oxford Aviation have revised a historically contentious lease, resolving disagreements that persisted after a 2010 court settlement.

The Sun Journal reported that the parties reached a revised lease agreement, ending in May 2027, that is the result of three years of negotiation that followed Oxford Aviation's lawsuit over maintenance of the airport facilities it leases.

The new lease will have the company submit quarterly maintenance reports to the county and incorporate aspects of the 2010 settlement into the lease, the paper reported.

The company in March of 2010 blamed a batch of layoffs on delayed payment of $100,000 as part of that settlement agreement.

The paper reported that Oxford Aviation owner James Horowitz said that he looks forward to "many years of successful cooperation with the county," following the newly revised lease agreement.
