Oxford commissioners, aviation firm settle

Oxford County commissioners have agreed to a $250,000 settlement and modifications in its lease with aircraft refurbisher Oxford Aviation, which operates from facilities at the county-owned regional airport, according to the Sun Journal.

The agreement ends a longstanding dispute between the company and the commission, which have been at odds over terms of the lease and maintenance responsibilities for years. The deal settles a breach of contract lawsuit filed by Oxford Aviation in August of 2008 over roof repairs, and the company will stop paying monthly rent in exchange for relieving the county of its maintenance obligations in the lease, according to the paper.

The lease extends until 2027.
