Pair of Maine airports land $296K in DOT grants

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King announced on Friday that both the Caribou Municipal Airport and the Dexter Regional Airport received $296,260 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The $217,935 awarded to the Caribou Municipal Airport will be used to support the construction of a 200-foot taxi lane to provide access to aircraft hangars.

Dexter Regional Airport will be using its $78,325 award to support an updated master plan, outlining objectives for future development.

“Maine’s airports are important hubs for commerce, tourism and economic development in our state,” Sens. Collins and King said in a joint statement. “This grant funding will help Dexter Regional Airport and Caribou Municipal Airport make critical improvements and ensure the facilities can adequately support the regions they serve.”
