Peter J. DeTroy, prominent commercial lawyer, dies
Peter J. DeTroy, a commercial litigator, died suddenly over Memorial Weekend.
Over a four-decade career, DeTroy represented individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses of all size. He was a partner at Norman Hanson DeTroy in Portland.
DeTroy was riding his bicycle on Munjoy Hill in Portland when he collapsed and had an apparent heart attack, the Portland Press Herald reported. Former Gov. John Baldacci called him one of the top five lawyers in the state.
DeTroy graduated from Bowdoin College in 1969 and earned his JD from the University of Maine Law School in 1972.
