Pierce Atwood has named a former naval officer as a new employment law partner.
Peter Hale represents employers on issues involving hiring, performance management, termination, wage and salary laws, workplace harassment and discrimination, among other labor and employment issues.
He helps clients with issues of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, state workplace leave laws, non-competition and restrictive covenants, and employment agreements.
Prior to joining Pierce Atwood in the firm's Portland office, he was a shareholder and former co-chair of the labor and employment group at Bernstein Shur.
Hale also worked as a commercial litigator at a prominent Boston-based law firm and an employment attorney at Littler Mendelson, a labor and employment law firm.
Before starting a career in law, he served in the U.S. Navy stationed on warships based in Italy and Virginia during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
Hale graduated cum laude from Boston University School of Law and received his bachelor of arts from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
“We are so pleased that Pete has chosen to bring his employment law talent and expertise to Pierce Atwood, where he joins a team of highly skilled attorneys serving our growing employment practice,” said Suzanne King, chair of the employment practice group.
Pierce Atwood LLP is ranked No. 3 on the recently published 2023 Mainebiz Book of Lists and has 135 attorneys working in Maine. In addition to Portland, the firm has offices in Augusta, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Washington, D.C.
