Pines Health Services receives $200K in federal funds

The Aroostook County-based Pines Health Services has been awarded a $200,000 Small Health Care Provider Quality Improvement grant through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“Community health providers like Pines Health Services offer critical services that support rural Maine communities,” U.S. Sen. Angus King said in a statement about the funding. “This federal funding will aid Pines Health Services in its important mission to care for the people of Aroostook County.”

The nonprofit, community-based health care provider has locations in Caribou, Presque Isle, Van Buren, Washburn and Fort Fairfield.

This grant funding for Pines Health Services is the first round in a three-year grant cycle. Funding beyond the first year is dependent on several factors according to a release, including the availability of appropriated funds for the program in the next fiscal years and the performance of the health care provider.
