Jared Mills, who serves as city of Augusta City Manager, accepted the position as a community volunteer and is not representing the city in this role. Vivian Mills is a nurse at MaineGeneral Health.
U.S. Sailing named SailMaine in Portland and the Adaptive Outdoor Education Center in Carrabassett Valley as its “2024 Robie Pierce Award” winner. The award celebrates the impact of their collaborative efforts on making sailing more accessible and inclusive for all.
University of Maine at Augusta announced that Chief Noel March, lecturer of justice studies and community policing, was selected to participate in an educational program titled, Operationalizing Never Again: The Role of Law Enforcement in the Holocaust and Contemporary Genocide. This program is a collaboration between Rutgers University, the University of Virginia’s Center for Public Safety and Justice and the Global Consortium for Law Enforcement Training Executives.

The Maine International Trade Center named Xuron Corp. in Saco as its “Exporter of the Year” as part of its annual international trade and investment awards. Other winners included Global Secure Shipping in Old Town as its “Innovator of the Year,” Kelson Marine Co. in Portland the “Service Provider of the Year,” Our Katahdin in Millinocket was the “Investor of the Year,” Johnna Major and Adrian Kendall won the “President’s Award,” and Kasei Oma captured the “Future Global Leader Award.”
MaineHealth Franklin Hospital in Farmington named Joanna Swihart as a “DAISY Award” winner. Swihart is an emergency department nurse at the hospital.
Evergreen Credit Union in Portland said that Emma Pierce, communications specialist, was selected to represent Maine as part of the Filene Institute’s Crash the GAC (Governmental Affairs Conference) program.
Hannaford Supermarkets named Diana Darling as its “Store Manager of the Year.” Darling is the store manager at 295 Forest Ave. in Portland. The company also named “District Store Managers of the Year” including James Redman, Caribou, District 1; Tim Perry, Bridgton, District 2; Clint Rackliff, Augusta, District 3; and David Couture, York, District 6.
Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader in Auburn presented Bill Bergeron with its “Brenda Fontaine Leadership Award” and Sylvia Rhodes was named “Rookie of the Year” at its annual Awards Banquet. Other winners were Tiffany Poland, LeAnn Payne, Kathy Lee Cook, Nicole Paul and Dustin Larochelle as “Bronze Level Achievers;” Cindy Morin, Chad Doucette, Rhodes, Charmaine Raby, David Foster and Hannah Clark were “Gold Level Achievers;” and “Platinum Level Achievers” were Teri Campbell, Maria Morrissette, Kelly Webb-Quinn, Sierra Lemieux, Clay Larochelle and Bergeron.
