Ware-Butler Building Supply, owned by Pleasant River Lumber Co., has acquired Bangor-area building materials retailer Crescent Lumber for an undisclosed price.
The addition of four Crescent Lumber sites — in Orrington, Palmyra, Corinth and Stillwater — brings Ware-Butler’s reach to 13 stores statewide. The Crescent Lumber stores will continue to do business under that name for the foreseeable future.
The acquisition, announced Friday, follows the purchase of three other deals earlier this year.
Crescent Lumber owner Tim Bernard will stay on as part of the team focusing on customer service and sales for the Crescent locations. He also will help Ware-Butler’s statewide operations with growth opportunities and projects.
“This acquisition will help us solidify our statewide operation and bring an awesome team of people in Crescent’s four locations to our retail team so that we can continue to provide value to our customers state-wide,” Pleasant River Lumber’s retail operations manager Alan Orcutt.
With the acquisition, parent company Pleasant River Lumber will employ 687 people in Maine.
