The Maine Brew Buses of Portland will soon have a not-so-distant relative as the tour program, which has been shuttling fans of Maine brews across Portland for the past three years, is expanding to Boston.
Starting this spring, The Boston Brew Bus tours will be taking imbibers across the greater Boston area with visits behind the scenes of up to 20 breweries and distilleries in Bean Town with plans of adding a second green bus currently in process.
Like the Portland tours, the Boston tours will be helmed by a team of brewery experts, including a non-drinking driver and will be easily accessible to anyone visiting Downtown Boston, though no tour route has been officially announced.
“This seems like an ideal time to expand our Brew Bus business into the Boston market,” said Portland Brew Bus founder Zach Poole in a statement. “By our count there are over 40 breweries and brewpubs currently operating or soon to be open in the area. But many area residents and most tourists can only name a couple of the larger ones when asked. We will literally open the doors to these amazing new places and show our guests the new producers of craft beer and more.”
Founded in 2012 by Zach and Allison Poole, the buses of The Maine Brew Bus of Portland have become a common sight in the city with the fleet of three bright green buses regularly zooming around the city. Since its founding, the tour has driven over 7,000 guests to date to alcohol producers in the greater metropolitan area and has been named the top tour in the city by TripAdvisor since 2013.
