STM Quest Inc., the consortium restarting ferry service from Portland to Nova Scotia, said it will charge between $79 and $129 for one-way adult fares aboard its ship, the Nova Star.
The Portland Press Herald reported the low-end fare will be in effect from May 1 to May 21 and Oct. 12 through Nov. 2, while the peak summer season fares will reach $129 per person from June 12 through Sept. 8. The price of a ticket does not include other amenities like cabin rentals, fees for cars, motorcycles or bikes.
Fares for children from 5 to 12 years old will range from $39 to $64 and children under 5 will travel for free, the company announced.
The paper reported state and Portland tourism officials appraised the ferry’s rates as reasonable. The paper reported the new service will include amenities previous ferry services did not have, including three restaurants, three bars with a sun-deck lounge, an art gallery, a children’s play area, a casino gaming room, a conference center, movie theater, a duty-free shop, a fitness center and a spa.
