Presque Isle co. expands
Virtual Managed Solutions LLC, a software support and IT company in Presque Isle, will expand after Caribou turns over a building to the company for $1.
Virtual Managed Solutions, which hopes to move its business and training departments into the facility after finalizing the building's purchase from the city, hopes to add 12 to 27 people to its 23-person staff by year's end, C.B. Smith, the company's founder and CEO, told Mainebiz this morning. "[Caribou officials] are true believers in economic development," Smith says.
The 2,400-square-foot property, located at 52 Sweden St., formerly was occupied by CCH Small Firm Services, the tax and accounting software company that bought ATX in 2006. After downsizing its Maine operations last year, CCH last week officially returned the building to the city. Smith, a former CCH employee, has already hired some of the laid off CCH workers and says he hopes to hire more.
