Quoddy Bay's LNG review suspended

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday suspended its review of Quoddy Bay LNG's proposed liquefied natural gas terminal on Passamaquoddy land in Washington County because of insufficient data.

In a letter Friday, the director of FERC's Office of Energy Projects said federal regulators were suspending the review until Oklahoma-based Quoddy Bay provides information that regulators requested in May and October of last year about the company's planned vaporizer, which converts liquid fuel into a gas, and the safety of its proposed transfer line. The letter says FERC will "reinitiate" the review when the appropriate information is provided.

A spokesperson for Quoddy Bay told the Bangor Daily News that the company expected FERC's temporary suspension and that it is still working on certain aspects of the project and hopes to submit the requested information soon.
