Rent-a-Husband founder indicted again

Rent-a-Husband founder Kaile Warren has been handed a second indictment, though the charges are nearly identical to those levied against him last year.

Warren on Thursday appeared in front of the grand jury, which returned an indictment that still includes charges of securities fraud, theft by deception and sales of unregistered securities, according to the Portland Press Herald. The new allegations are that Warren did not tell some investors he had been sued and that his lawyer advised him to stop selling promissory notes. Warren, of Windham, was indicted in December and pled not guilty to three counts of fraud in January.

Warren, who in 1996 founded the handyman business that gained national attention, owes more than $1.6 million on promissory notes. A court date for his arraignment on the new indictment has not been set.
