Rent-A-Husband founder refutes charges

The founder of a handyman company charged with securities fraud is denying the charges.

Kaile Warren, the founder of Windham-based Rent-A-Husband, "vigorously denies" the charges and says "he has done nothing wrong or illegal," his lawyer, Dave Johnson, wrote in a statement, according to news channel WCSH 6. Last Friday, Warren was indicted by a Cumberland County Grand Jury on counts of securities fraud, theft by deception and sale of unregistered securities in connection with the issuance of promissory notes by him and his businesses, Rent-A-Husband LLC and KW Enterprises Inc. In the statement, Johnson disagrees with the Attorney General's Office that Warren falsely portrayed his company as being financially sound in order to attract investors. "This same allegation could be made against many companies, including Amazon.com, Twitter.com, Facebook.com and dozens of other start up ventures that were unprofitable in their early years, but today enjoy remarkable success," he wrote.

The AG's office is seeking restitution and possible jail time for the charges, according to WCSH 6.
