Renys store coming to Portland
Maine-based department store Renys will open its 14th location at the former L.L.Bean outlet store and adjoining Olympia Sports location in Portland.
John Reny told the Portland Press Herald the company considered a Portland location for years but ruled it out because of little on-street parking. However, a customer push for a Renys in the city that even included a Facebook campaign convinced the retailer to reconsider. The store will occupy both 540-544 Congress St., spaces left vacant when L.L.Bean departed in late October and Olympia Sports announced it would close soon after. L.L.Bean cited the proximity of its new outlet store in Freeport as its reason for departure, and Olympia said the change would mean less foot traffic, according to the paper.
Reny did not say when the store would open.
