A state report said that contractors hired by Summit Natural Gas had improperly installed 82 natural gas connections in the Waterville area, though most of them have already been fixed.
Citing a May 1 report filed with the Maine Public Utilities Commission, the Morning Sentinel reported that the company found more than half of connections did not pass a visual inspection, meaning the connections were not properly installed. The company has replaced more than 60 of those connections, leaving a little under two dozen to be fixed, as of Friday.
Summit is planning to inspect more than 400 connections over the next few months, the newspaper said, and it’s no longer working with CCB Inc., the Westbrook contractor that installed the faulty lines. Tammy Poissonnier, a spokesperson for Summit, told the Morning Sentinel that the extra work will not impact its expansion plans.
