Resources Council names new director

The Natural Resources Council of Maine has named Lisa Pohlmann of Jefferson as its new executive director.

Pohlmann replaces longtime leader Brownie Carson, who last June announced he would step down after 26 years with the organization, according to a press release. Pohlmann has been involved with NRCM for the past 10 years, serving on its board of directors for seven and as president of the board for two. In 2008, she became deputy director. She has also served as a leading member of the Penobscot River Restoration Trust, which recently closed a $24 million deal to buy three dams in eastern Maine to reopen 1,000 miles of fish habitat.

Before joining NRCM, Pohlmann was associate director of the Maine Center for Economic Policy.
