Revived two years ago, Yarmouth coffee shop closes
The Royal Bean coffee shop in Yarmouth has closed, less than two years after 16 customers banded together to buy the business and prevent it from closing.
The Portland Press Herald reported the the Royal Bean was expected to close on Sunday after a pending sale of the business to an outside buyer failed.
Matt Owen, one of the owners, told the newspaper that several of the employees had already planned to leave the coffee shop by the beginning of August and that no one had been hired as replacements because of the anticipated purchase.
However, Owen said, there could be hope on the horizon. The owners are currently speaking with a few potential buyers in the hope that it can re-open once again.
