Rockland approve manufacturer's expansion

The Rockland Planning Board has approved Fisher Engineering's proposed expansion, according to VillageSoup.

Fisher Engineering, which manufactures snowplows, wants to add 53,200 square feet to its 141,940-square-foot plant in the city's industrial park, the news website reported. The project is expected to cost as much as $4 million and would add 50 jobs at the Rockland plant, which employs about 180 people. Pending the proper permits from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the company hopes to break ground in September, VillageSoup reported.

Fisher is also working with the city council on a tax increment financing deal that would return a portion of the taxes collected on the addition.
