A 52-year-old family-owned business in Saco is under new ownership, as Vic’s Appliance Center has been acquired by Maine’s largest independent retailer of appliances and mattresses, the Auburn-based Agren Appliance.
The now-former Vic’s joins Agren’s four other locations across the state in Topsham, South Portland, Norway and Auburn.
“We are extremely pleased to be joining the Saco community. Our goal is to maintain this as a local business including the employees who live and work here,” said Jason Agren, president of Agren, in a release. “As family-owned businesses, both Agren and Vic’s hold many of the same values and a strong commitment to both the community and our customers.”
All orders of appliances, parts or previously scheduled service calls will stay on track and Agren will honor all product warranties, Vic’s gift cards and any other business transactions currently underway, according to the press release.
“I am glad and proud to become part of Agren,” said Don Fleurant, former owner of Vic’s Appliance, who will continue to work at the Saco location. “I wanted to find another family business that comes from the same past as ours selling, delivering and servicing appliances just as we have, one customer at a time.”
