The owners of Saddleback Maine have announced that Warren Cook is stepping down as general manager of the Rangeley ski resort.
Cook's two-year contract has ended and he will leave to pursue new interests while maintaining an advisory role, according to a press release issued by resort owners Bill and Irene Berry. Replacing Cook is Christopher Farmer, a Berry family friend who since May 2008 has served as legal counsel and director of real estate, planning and development for Saddleback. The second and third generations of the Berry family plan to become more active in the day-to-day operations of the resort, the release states.
Bill Berry commended Cook for his service and work reorganizing Saddleback's management. This past season was one of the resort's most successful, with more guest visits than during any other year in Saddleback's 49-year history and with revenue up 40%, the release states.
Cook, a 2009 Mainebiz Next honoree, has co-founded an organization called Maine Network Partners that supports collaborative nonprofit networks in Maine.
