Rangeley's Saddleback Ski Area is on the market.
The Morning Sentinel reported that the owners, the Berry family, are asking $12 million for the 400 acres of ski trails, lifts, the base lodge and the land underneath 121 condominium units nearby. The family is considering selling the entire ski area or taking on a partner in the business, the paper reported.
Making the ski area a nonprofit is also on the table, the family said.
The paper reported that Portland developer Eric Cianchette has expressed interest in the property, according to broker Joe Malone of Malone Commercial Brokers in Portland.
The Berry family first bought 8,000 acres around the ski area 10 years ago. It plans to keep the remaining 7,600 acres excluded from the property put on the market.
Clarification: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that the sale of Saddleback Ski Area included 121 condominium units nearby. The land underneath those condominium units is for sale.
