Scarcelli sues stepfather in property management feud
Rosa Scarcelli, a former gubernatorial candidate, has filed a lawsuit against her stepfather over allegations of mismanagement at several housing projects.
In her lawsuit, Scarcelli claims her stepfather, Karl Norberg, refused to remove her mother, Pamela Gleichman, as a general partner in the family's affordable housing company after Gleichman mismanaged several properties, according to the Portland Press Herald. Gleichman did not make necessary repairs to the low-income housing projects as required by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development. The properties include Perramond Estates in Madawaska, Maple Tree Estates in Mapleton and Pittsfield Park Apartments in Pittsfield.
Scarcelli's suit asks a judge to confirm she owns 70% of GN Holdings LP and the authority to dictate the company's management. A lawyer for Norberg, however, said Scarcelli has no ownership stake in the company. Norberg will likely file a countersuit, according to the paper. The suit comes after more than a year of unsuccessful mediation.
Scarcelli is CEO of Stanford Property Management in Portland, a company she acquired from her mother and stepfather in 2007, according to the Bangor Daily News.
