Sea Bags, the Portland-based designer and manufacturer of handmade bags and other items made from recycled sails, said it has opened a store in Annapolis, Md.
The store will be open year-round and will carry all of Sea Bags’ designs and seasonal collections, including totes and home accessories.
Annapolis, which is on the Chesapeake Bay, is home to the Naval Academy as well as a sizeable sailing and boating community.
It’s the fourth store opened by Sea Bags this year, along with stores in Camden; Portsmouth, N.H.; and Oak Bluffs, Mass., on Martha’s Vineyard.
“We’ve been searching for the right spot in Annapolis and feel fortunate to find a great location in the historic district on Main Street,” said Don Oakes, CEO of Sea Bags. “While Maryland is a new state for us in terms of bricks and mortar, we have some very loyal online customers in
Maryland, and with Annapolis’ history as the sailing capital of the United States and the home of the Naval Academy, we’re confident this location will be great for us.”
Sea Bags, which was founded in 1999, is based at 25 Custom House Wharf in Portland, which is also a retail location. In addition to those mentioned, Sea Bags has stores in Freeport; Newburyport, Rockport, Chatham and Mashpee, Mass; Mystic, Conn.; Greenport, N.Y.; and Cape May, N.J.
