Search to find new WCCC president stalls

William Cassidy, who's currently serving as interim president of Washington County Community College, will remain in the position through the coming academic year, the Maine Community College System announced in a press release. The search for a new president, which began in February, ended last week without a nominee.

Cassidy previously served as president of WCCC from 2003 to 2009. He returned to the college on an interim basis beginning this month, filling in for retiring president Joyce Hedlund. The system hoped to announce a new president by the end of the summer, but wasn't successful in finding the right candidate.

The MCCS Board of Trustees plans to reopen the search in January 2013.
