Sen. Collins to give biomed keynote at Maine Medical Center Institute

The Maine Medical Center Research Institute will be hosting a symposium on Friday in Scarborough focusing on biomedical research funded by the National Institutes of Health and its impact on the state.

The event’s keynote speaker will be U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, who will also be participating in a roundtable discussion with noted scientists, economists, planners and patient advocates.

Among the panel participants are University of Maine Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School Carol Kim, Jackson Laboratory Vice President for External Affairs and Strategic Partnerships Michael Hyde and Maine Alzheimer’s Association Executive Director Laurie Trenholm.

The symposium starts on Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Maine Medical Center Research Institute in Scarborough, with the roundtable panel beginning at 12:30 p.m.
