A little over two months after the town of Thomaston turned down a proposed Dollar General store on the town’s Main Street, the discount retailer received a preliminary green light for construction in the town of Eddington during a public hearing.
Town Manager Russell Smith told the Bangor Daily News that there was a single question asked during the hearing about the proposal.
“Somebody asked how soon would it be open,” he said.
The answer to that question is that the 9,300-square-foot Dollar General location, planned for 1030 Main Road, would open in October if everything goes according to plan.
Following Wednesday’s public hearing, town planners will meet again on May 10 to review the store’s plans.
