Snowplow maker eyes Rockland expansion

A Wisconsin-based snowplow maker may expand its facility and add jobs in Rockland, according to VillageSoup.

Douglas Dynamics LLC recently announced it will shutter its Johnson City, Tenn., plant by September 2010 and shift its production to its other facilities in Milwaukee and Rockland. Company officials told the news site it wants to expand its facility near the Rockland Industrial Park and add workers to its 180-person staff, but that it would need approval from the city planning board, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection and the Army Corps of Engineers. Douglas has not yet filed an application with the city of Rockland.

Douglas, one of Rockland's largest employers, is owned by private investment firms Aurora Capital Group and Ares Management LLC, both based in Los Angeles.
