The third annual Social Media FTW conference, which promises to help companies understand and leverage social media, will take place this Thursday at the University of Southern Maine.
The event is organized by Rich Brooks, founder and president of flyte new media in Portland; Chrystie Corns, president of Thirteen Thirty Marketing in Portland; and Jaica Kinsman, executive producer of MaineToday Digital in Portland. The keynote speakers will be Mike Volpe, chief marketing officer at HubSpot, a marketing software company in Cambridge, Mass., and Saul Colt, "head of magic" at Freshbooks, an invoicing and billing software company in Toronto, Canada.
Presenters will speak on a range of subjects, including Facebook, YouTube, advanced LinkedIn, blogging, privacy issues, social media for nonprofits and email marketing. A talk by Amanda O'Brien, vice president of marketing at Hall Internet Marketing in Portland, is called, "What am I doing and is this even working?"
The fee to attend is $149, with a discount for students. The conference starts at 8 a.m. with registration and a breakfast at USM's Abromson Center, 88 Bedford St., Portland.
