South Portland InterSpec scores $23K MTI grant

The South Portland-based firm InterSpec received a $23,000 grant from the Maine Technology Institute to develop, market and integrate the Unified Field Guide Specification documents, which are guides used for construction projects worldwide, into its automation management system, e-SPECS.

Organizations like NASA, the U.S. Naval Facilities Engineering Command and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers all extensively use UFGS for construction projects.

InterSpec claims it will be the only commercial company to fully integrate UFGS-based specifications using AutoDesk’s Revit, one of the most popular 3D modeling software programs, to support building information modeling.

“This grant from MTI will allow InterSpec to have a competitive advantage and expand previously unavailable BIM integration for large scale federal construction projects and that will inevitably help with the growth of the company,” Gilles Letourneau, InterSpec Inc., president, founder and CEO, said in a statement.
