Stonewall Kitchen, the York-based specialty food company known for its gourmet jams and pancake mixes, will soon add seafood sauces and marinades to its mix.
The maker of Wild Maine Blueberry Jam announced a licensing agreement on Monday with Boston-based Legal Sea Foods to introduce a co-branded line of restaurant-quality sauces, marinades and spices next year.
“We’re very excited to partner with Legal Sea Foods, another authentic New England brand,” Stonewall Kitchen CEO John Stiker said in a statement.
"This feels like the perfect marriage between two brands that have the same high standards for using the finest-quality ingredients to produce the most delicious food possible,” he added.
The new line is due to be released in January 2019.
Roger Berkowitz, president and CEO of Legal Sea Foods, said the company is proud to partner with Stonewall Kitchen “to bring these great flavors to consumer nationwide, so everyone can enjoy a Legal Sea Foods experience at home.”
In an interview with Mainebiz last week at Stonewall Kitchen headquarters, Stiker said the company is open to further acquisitions of premium brands after last year’s purchase of Tillen Farms, a maker of cocktail garnishes and condiments.
Stonewall Kitchen, founded in 1991, is a portfolio company of Centre Partners, a middle-market-focused private equity firm that also owns stakes in Golding Farms Foods Inc., of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Sun Orchard Juicery, of Tempe, Ariz.
