The official launch of the summer concert series at Darling’s Waterfront Pavilion in Bangor has businesses in Bangor gearing up for the thousands of music fans who will descend upon the city in the coming months.
The Bangor Daily News spoke to several business owners on Wednesday night before The Dave Matthews Band took the stage at the outside waterfront venue, including Gene Beck, the owner of the Nocturnem Draft Haus, a high-end bar in the city’s downtown.
“It’s all hands on deck,” Beck told the BDN. “We’ll definitely see a big rush beforehand.”
A performance by Ringo Starr on the same night at the Cross Insurance Center added to the rush of concert-goers looking to get their fill of food and drinks before the busy night.
Peter Geaghan, co-owner of Geaghan’s Pub, which is located across the street from the Insurance Center, told the BDN that on a normal Friday night he sells upwards of 300 pounds of the pub’s famous chicken wings.
“We’re planning for 500 pounds [Wednesday night],” Geaghan told the BDN before the former Beatles’ drummer’s show started.
