The week in review

The good: Cianbro Corp. and Woodard & Curran were recently included in Engineering News-Record's lists of the 100 top contractors and design firms, respectively, while six other Maine companies were lauded for their business excellence by Gov. Paul LePage.

The bad: A report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration found that New England fish stocks are still being overfished more so than stocks in other parts of the country.

The timely translation: The Maine Forest Service's logging manual, "Best management practices: Protecting Maine's water quality," is now available in French. The service said it received three requests from landowners working with French-speaking loggers, or "bucherons," in the last year for a French-language version.
