The bad: Great Northern Paper Co., which was purchased in September 2012 by Cate Street Capital, has given layoff notices to 212 workers. Richard Cyr, a senior vice president with Cate Street, told Mainebiz in January 2012: “We're certainly keenly aware of the pitfalls of the past with people who have tried to run that paper mill and we believe we've learned from the mistakes of others.”
Changing stationery: A judge ordered The Inn at Brunswick Station to change its name because of a lawsuit by the nearby Brunswick Inn, which said the competing inn infringed on its trademark when it opened its doors in 2012.
