Think-tank CEO steps down

Bill Becker is stepping down as CEO of the Maine Heritage Policy Center to take a job in the private sector.

Becker, who has been head of the conservative think tank in Portland since its launch in 2002, will leave at the end of the year to take a job as a financial advisor at the investment and brokerage firm Edward Jones in Portland, according to a press release. Becker, however, will remain involved at MHPC, having been elected president of its board of directors.

Tarren Bragdon, currently MHPC's director of health reform initiatives, will succeed Becker as CEO effective Jan. 1, 2008, the release said.
