Three airports win $22M

Three Maine airports are getting federal grants totaling more than $22 million to improve their runways.

The Portland International Jetport, Augusta Airport and the Brunswick Executive Airport are receiving the U.S. Department of Transportation grants, according to The Associated Press. The Portland airport is getting $12.7 million to build a runway safety area and rehabilitate parts of the runway and taxiway, while the Brunswick airport at the former naval air station is receiving $4.2 million to buy snow removal equipment and improve utilities and runway lighting. The Augusta airport will use $5.2 million to improve its runway.
