The parent company of The Times Record in Brunswick has announced a reorganization that will put its building and printing division under the ownership of a new company.
Brunswick Publishing LLC will sell its building and Alliance Press printing division to a new company headed by Brunswick Publishing President Chris Miles and Rockland-based RFB Co-Op, one of Alliance Press' largest clients, the Bangor Daily News reported. The newspaper will continue operating out of the building, and Alliance Press will print the daily paper. Brunswick Publishing owner George Sample said the reorganization will allow the company to focus on "[producing] good hometown newspapers."
The company also said it will pay in full the taxes it owes to the town of Brunswick. In March, The Forecaster reported that Brunswick Publishing at that time owed more than $265,000 for its 2010 and some of 2011's real estate taxes, as well as 2009, 2010 and 2011 personal property taxes. Alliance Press also owed taxes. The town put a lien on Brunswick Publishing's building at 3 Business Parkway and Alliance Press' equipment, including the printing presses.
Two months ago, the company leased part of its building to Waltz Longterm Care Pharmacy, which is relocating from Topsham. The company plans to move in August following renovations.
